As part of the MGS Group of Companies, MGS Libertyville Division is looking for a Supply Chain Specialist located in Libertyville, IL. The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for scheduling, warehouse, purchasing, and Customer Service for the MGS Libertyville Molding facility. This position supports production materials, maintains inventory, disburses supplies, receives shipments, and ships finished products. Schedule machines to comply with on time customer demands and delivery. Purchase Raw Materials to support on time deliveries. Process all new production part sales orders, perform contract review, and maintain and follow through on all existing orders.

Below are the essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform Scheduling to meet on time customer demands and delivery.
  • Analyze daily shift reports.
  • Prepare press report for daily production meetings.
  • Review press capacities and open PO reports.
  • Schedule any outsourcing that may arise.
  • Create work orders.
  • Analyze on-time reports.
  • Schedule production.
  • Optimize machine utilization.
  • Coordinate raw material requisitions.
  • Daily interaction with departments.
  • Manages Warehouse function.
  • Monitor and evaluate all Warehouse personnel activities, schedules, and performance. Support all groups within the Warehouse Department. Evaluate the training and development of all Warehouse employees.
  • Responsible for all shipping and receiving processes. This includes ensuring all PO entry work is completed in the systems and all finished product are shipped in accordance with the customer required dates.
  • Support the Customer Service Department and Scheduling by providing necessary information to accurately respond to customer inquiries regarding inventory, new orders, and expedited orders.
  • Coordinate and support inbound and outbound shipments between Libertyville and the other MGS Germantown divisions as needed.
  • Review the hit list daily to ensure all production jobs are allocated at least 24 hours in advance. This includes mixed resin requests to material handling timely to ensure material is available before production set up.
  • Supervise material handler(s) to ensure production presses are maintained with material on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate regular inventory cycle counts and physical inventory for the Warehouse Department.
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy, including investigation, resolution, and documentation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Responsible for the job close and reconciliation process in the system. Run Accounting variance reports to ensure all variances are identified and investigated appropriately.
  • Responsible to maintain good control of sample inventories in segregated, labeled and managed area. (ERP and experimental). This includes appropriate paperwork to be utilized if sampling requires ERP inventory.
  • Able to perform all warehouse and material handling duties in the absence of other employees.
  • Responsible for good housekeeping in the warehouse, dock, and production areas.
  • Work with quality to streamline production paperwork requirements. Support as necessary.
  • Investigate, document and submit all Freight claims with the outside service companies, Freight Carriers and Freight Forwarders. Complete follow up on all claims until settlement is satisfied.
  • Observe and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Handle purchasing to meet on time deliveries.
  • Develop and maintain responsible suppliers for those commodities assigned to the Buyer. Know the key personnel at each major supplier; understand their production processes and internal systems.
  • Conducts review of supplier’s facilities and product/process capabilities to assess current and potential supplier qualification.
  • Maintains a strong supplier database utilizing the suppler scorecard ranking their performance. The scorecard is a monthly report that grades the supplier on key measures like quality, delivery, price, and cost savings.
  • Obtains competitive quotations and selects suppliers based on quality, cost, lead-time, service, and financial stability.
  • Obtain the lowest possible cost through negotiation, competitive bidding, and market and supplier knowledge. Analyze and evaluate quotes from potential suppliers.
  • Aggressively seek and recommend cost savings possibilities based upon new sources, substitutes, improved systems or new items.
  • Review demands via MRP output using ERP software and negotiates the placement of purchase orders with suppliers who can meet required delivery dates.
  • Expedite materials when required and handle any rejections or other problems on materials purchased.
  • In contact with customer service, program managers, accounting, shipping, receiving, quality and other departments at MGS Germantown.
  • Monitor current purchase price to current standard cost via PPV report (Purchase Price Variance Report). Establish a PPV favorable minimum goal to achieve a targeted annual cost savings goal.
  • Understand the computerized procurement system (ERP) and its relationship to the various interfacing systems. Maintain all purchasing databases to ensure dependent departments have prompt, accurate information. Use generated reports and screens for control and purchasing decisions.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with established operating procedures and standards of ethical conduct.
  • Provide Customer Service.
  • Process all new production part sales orders within a 24-hour period. Perform contract review on all for accuracy (part #, revision level, pricing, adequate lead-time).
  • Maintains and follows through on all existing sales orders, working with various departments to ensure on time delivery.
  • Communicate with Customer Service Manager on all orders that will be late and follow up on these per direction given.
  • Communicate account activity to Customer Service Manager.
  • Process customer change orders and handles requests to expedite or push out following our guidelines.
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external customers.
  • Develop ways to set up customers appropriately in our system based on their customized program (shorter lead times, special pricing, etc).
  • Develop into primary and secondary responsibilities for other customer accounts, providing a backup role to other CSRs.
  • Lead the effort to manage aging inventory due to lack of new orders, end of programs and the disposition of old revision levels prior to shipping new revision levels as requested by customer.
  • Fluent handling of customer web-based ordering systems.
  • Perform customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Develop and maintain forecasts in our ERP system.
  • Create and maintain a customer reference guide for their set of accounts.
  • Responsible for entering key information in ERP: orders, pricing, customer address, maintenance, etc.
  • Identify and communicate existing issues and opportunities to improve the current procedures.
  • Must display initiative to identify and take on new challenges and opportunities over and above daily responsibilities.
  • Set up and attend customer visits.
  • Attend conference calls and meetings related to customer issues/concerns.
  • Must work closely with all departments with regard to customer satisfaction.
  • Create RMA or COR’s and communicate product quality issues with customers.
  • Represent MGS in a professional manner with all communications, both internal and external.
  • Participate in audits as required.
  • Set up Schedule agreements, forecasts and min/max agreements for customers as required.
  • Forward quotes to customers and responsible for making sure customers acknowledge and accept them.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

A qualified candidate would fulfill these requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of five years’ previous experience in the warehouse and shipping/receiving environment, plus three years’ customer service experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and on-the-job training or experience.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to operate a lift truck.
