Job Description:

As part of the MGS Group of Companies, MGS Antioch Division is looking for a Quality Engineer located in Antioch, IL. The Quality Engineer is responsible to monitor and continuously improve upon the Quality System Elements, provide written work instructions, and investigate/resolve quality issues.

Below are the essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Monitor and continuously improve the quality system and product quality on the manufacturing floor.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SPC process (data collection and analysis) and provide associated training as required.
  • Participate in and/or lead CAPA activities, investigation, root cause determination, corrective/preventive action identification and implementation, effectiveness verification, and documentation.
  • Investigate, document, and respond to customer complaints.
  • Resolve supplier issues and perform supplier audits as needed.
  • Monitor the nonconforming material process, including identification, containment, documentation and disposition of nonconforming material. Create sorting and rework methods/instructions. Maintain the QA Hold Area.
  • Participate in mold, equipment, and process validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ), including documentation, FAI, and statistical studies (Gage R & R/process capability).
  • Interpretation of complex blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerating call-outs.
  • Ability to set-up and operator complicated metrology equipment, and provide associated training on such equipment.
  • Develop metrology methods and provide associated training to quality/production staff as required.
  • Assist with maintaining the calibration system. Clean and perform minor adjustment to Gauges.
  • Perform clean room monitoring and maintain associated documentation, including run charts. Participate in investigation of out of specification conditions.
  • Perform internal audits of the Quality Management System.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the FMEA process.
  • Documentation, data, and records control.
  • Maintain and update Visual Inspection Criteria, Manufacturing Work Instructions, Quality Alerts, QA Inspection Procedures, SOP’s, and Metrology Methods.
  • Observe and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


Experience and Skills:

A qualified candidate would fulfill these requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of experience, or combination of accrued on-the-job experience and training.
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform geometric dimension and tolerencing.
  • Fundamental statistical applications experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of Metrology systems.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA).
  • Strong Investigation/Root Cause Analysis/CAPA experience using Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt or Green Belt preferred).
  • Experience handling customer complaints / customer communication.
  • Strong documentation experience (writing SOP’s, work instructions, control plans, etc.).
