Job Description:

MGS Manufacturing Group is a global company focused on precision plastic injection molding that has achieved remarkable success. As we continue to grow, developing and maintaining strong EHS processes and reporting are critical to our culture and performance. The EHS Manager position is a key leadership role directing this effort.

The EHS Manager is responsible for development and implementation of all health and safety programs in the company to create consistency as One MGS. This position partners with supporting employees and management staff to insure adherence to health and safety policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.

Below are the essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a safety-oriented strategy across the company and measure, report and achieve key metric goals.
  • Develop specific environmental, health and safety objectives and create action plans to meet those objectives.
  • Maintain, review and report EHS performance, identifying opportunities for improvement along with implementing preventative and corrective actions as required.
  • Work with site leadership to ensure all key EHS operational controls are in place and that the EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
  • Create a proactive approach to EHS excellence through cross functional cooperation, communication and training.
  • Develop and/or coordinate EHS training and training tools.
  • Integrate and partner with business leaders to promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee internal environmental, health and safety audit actions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage implementation of site specific environmental, health and safety programs to ensure regulatory and corporate standards are effectively integrated into standard operating procedures.
  • Provide strategy in the development or deployment of a behavior based safety program.
  • Ensure timely coordination of all regulatory or Company required testing and training, including industrial hygiene testing.

Experience and Skills:

A qualified candidate would fulfill these requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in occupational safety, environmental science or a closely related field.
  • CSHM (Certified Safety and Health Manager) or CSMP (Certified Safety Management Practitioner) certification desired.
  • Ability to influence team engagement and to drive team decision making to conclusions/solutions.
  • Must have exceptional skills in building interpersonal relationships, including a high degree of judgment, diplomacy and ability to influence others.
  • Must possess a theoretical and practical knowledge of regulatory standards.
  • High knowledge of current safety and loss control practices is essential.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, customers, and management.
  • Ability to resolve problems regarding policies, procedures and safety programs. Must have strong interpersonal skills to influence participants and decision makers.
  • Able to work well in a team environment or independently.
  • 7 + years of experience managing Environmental, Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Travel to various MGS facilities and customer facilities is required. Local domestic travel up to 25%. Overnight international travel may be required.
  • Flexible hours, which may include nights and weekends as necessary.
