Job Description:

As part of the MGS Group of Companies, MGS Antioch Division is looking for a Quality Assurance Tech Specialist located in Antioch, IL. The Quality Assurance Tech Specialist performs technical studies and calibrations on measuring devices.

Below are the essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop, assist and perform technical test procedures and metrology methods, including equipment selection, metrology methods, and fixtures.
  • Interpretation of complex blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerating call-outs, as well as customer specification requirements.
  • Interact with customers on product requirements and resolve any issues/discrepancies.
  • Schedule and maintain all internal and external calibrations. Perform calibrations and maintain the calibration program for the site, including all related documentation/records.
  • Communicate with appropriate personnel on progress of projects.
  • Perform 1st piece article inspections, capability studies, and gauge R&Rs per approved protocol requirements, and generate the necessary reports.
  • Keep Quality Assurance Manager informed of progress on projects and discuss final outcome.
  • Perform system audits and other non-routine assessments.
  • Initiate and implement improvement ideas for new or existing procedures and methods, which may reduce, simplify or eliminate unnecessary inspections.
  • Report any discrepancies/non-conformities observed to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Provide training for proper use of new measuring devices, test equipment, and metrology methods as needed.
  • Assist Quality Assurance Inspectors in understanding requirements when clarification is necessary.
  • Observe and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

A qualified candidate would fulfill these requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Five years of experience in Quality or a related field, preferably in manufacturing and/or plastics.
  • Experience with CMM programming. Knowledge with PCDMIS software is preferred.
  • Must have a full knowledge of inspection gauges, and possess proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
