Job Description:

MGS Mfg. Group has a current opening for a full-time Production Manager within our Equipment Division at our facility in Germantown, WI.

MGS is an engineering house, a toolmaker, an injection molder, a blow molder, and a custom machine builder. The Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all production goals and objectives to support all established production timelines while ensuring a safe environment at all times.

As the Production Manager, you will..

  • Manage the schedule and resource plan for all new builds, validation, commissioning, warranty work, and after sales service activities.
  • Develop and maintain shop and service metrics to maximize efficiency and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the manufacturing department operates efficiently with respect to the schedule, direct labor hours, materials used and needed, customer specifications, and quality of work with the workforce each day.  Take immediate and corrective action when required.
  • Provide data for the short-range and long-range planning such as resource and capital requirements to support growth plans.
  • Provide quoting information such as hours and material estimates when requested.
  • Prepare proposals for service work, validations, machinery upgrades, etc.
  • Lead equipment validation efforts reviewing customer supplied protocols and ensuring equipment readiness to comply with acceptance requirements.
  • Create equipment commissioning and acceptance protocols for equipment without customer supplied requirements.
  • Interact with all other departments and contribute to an atmosphere of high morale and enthusiasm promoting a sense of teamwork.
  • Management of tooling, inventory, and vendor management programs for stock of shop supplies.
  • Evaluate all production and field support staff, manage direct reports, provide coaching and performance development plans, proactively address performance issues.
  • Manage field service personnel, responsible for installation, warranty, and aftersales service activities.
  • Participate in all project review meetings providing input on DFM and applied lessons learned.
  • Lead all project follow-up meetings in conjunction with the engineering manager to ensure ongoing documentation and design changes are implemented.
  • Prepare and review all machinery documentation being supplied to our customer

 

Experience and Skills:

This might be the job for you if you have:

  • Completion of an accredited two-year or four-year university program, in a related field of study, or equal accrued experience and training.  Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Technical skills in design and methods.
  • Good understanding and ability to perform tasks and create documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Pro-E, Solidworks, and AutoCad design software.
  • This position may require travel up to 25% for initial machine installations, site acceptance tests, service work, trade shows, and customer visits.
