Job Description:

At MGS Mfg. Group, we are an engineering house, a toolmaker, a blow molder, an injection molder, and a custom machine builder all under one company. MGS Mfg. Group is looking for a Process Engineer Intern for its molding group in Germantown, Wisconsin.  The Process Engineer Intern will gain a general understanding of how a molding facility operates and to give candidates an opportunity to get a base understanding to build upon.  Each candidate will rotate through 3 departments; Molding, Tooling, and Quality gaining experience in each area.  The last 3 weeks you will complete an identified project bringing these areas together.

Below are the essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Know and follow all of the Company’s safety rules, such as safe work practices and standard operating procedures.  
  • Serve as a good role model to employees for safe work practices and behavior by conducting yourself professionally, keeping in mind your own safety and the safety of others. 
  • Learn and master all necessary areas of the quality system.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Molding
    • Learn the basics of how the molding facility operates and the basics of Injection Molding.   Below are skills you will learn during your rotation:
      • The basic functions of the injection molding
      • The importance of safety in a Molding facility
      • An overview of quality control including inspection practices
      • The requirements of a cleanroom
  • Tooling
    • Learn the basics of how the toolroom supports operations.  Below are skills you will learn during your rotation:
      • Understanding the tooling process
      • How to clean molds properly
      • How to store tools properly
      • Basic troubleshooting techniques
  • Quality
    • Learn the basics of how Quality interconnects with operations.  Below are skills you will learn during the rotation:
      • Gain knowledge of ISO compliance (automotive, medical, FDA)
      • Get an understanding of the Quality System
      • Learn validation protocols
      • Learn how to do and understand capability studies
      • Learn the importance of visual and dimensional inspection and what to look for
      • Understand the process for non-conforming products
      • Understand the customer complaint and corrective action process
  • Project
    • Assist on a Project to that bring the knowledge learned in Molding, Tooling, and Quality.
    • Learn how to meet deadlines
  • Maintain constant communication with supervisor with regards to all work assignments.
  • Act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain the highest level of organization.
  • Use available resources in order to achieve job completion.
  • Maintain shop organization on a daily basis.
  • Any other duties as assigned.  


Experience and Skills:

A qualified candidate would fulfill these requirements:

  • Pursing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Plastics Engineering or related field
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Detailed-oriented
  • Ability to troubleshoot
