Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Specialist at our Antioch, IL location. The Quality Specialist creates, activates, and maintains quality documents pertinent to the Quality Department, and oversee other quality systems records and activities including performing inspections, calibration, and controlled environment testing as needed.

Below are the essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Know and follow all of the Company’s safety rules, such as safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Serve as a good role model to employees for safe work practices and behavior by conducting yourself professionally, keeping in mind your own safety and the safety of others.
  • Learn and master all necessary areas of the quality system.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Create Quality Assurance (QA) files for new customers and product lines. Maintain QA files with current customer documents and archive old revisions as required. Purge customer files and prepare them for storage, keeping an itemized listing of contents in the history file.
  • Input and maintain all controlled forms and S.O.P.’s in the computer including: submitting and obtaining approval of change requests, revising the applicable Master index, and removing obsolete documents from the appropriate area and replacing them with updated copies.
  • Assist QA employees in the completion of various assignments, including inspections, mold validations, and calibrations as needed.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Manufacturing Work Instructions, Visual Inspection Criteria, and Quality Alerts, including change control.
  • Generate and/or maintain customer approved samples, golden samples, limit samples, etc.
  • Manage the QA Hold area and oversee/execute corresponding system transactions.
  • Initiate and route Engineering Change Notices.
  • Lead or participate in resolution of complaint investigations, product non-conformances, and process improvements.
  • Prepare and change QA inspection procedures and forms as needed, and maintain electronic files.
  • Review retained document log and discard records as specified.
  • Track documentation errors by reviewing inspection records for accuracy, legibility, and completeness.
  • Enter SPC data for new products and processes into the computer and generate a statistical analysis report for capability review.
  • Train new QA personnel when requested.
  • Complete environmental testing as directed.
  • Perform the duties of a QA Technician as needed.
  • Report any discrepancies/non-conformities observed to the QA Manager.
  • Observe and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

A qualified candidate would fulfill these requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in document control is recommended.
  • Computer skills.
  • Strong data handling skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Must possess good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
